Indefatigable 2025 Newsletter

Words by Wayne Houston, Vice Chairman, Intrim Newletter Editor

The long awaited return of the INDE NEWSLETTER, albeit in an electronic format.

2022 saw the last edition published and distributed physically to the membership. However it was apparent this was not viable to continue due to finances and the resource needed to create a document representing the values of the IOBA.

So, what has changed? To be honest not much. As with anything, the IOBA is operated on a voluntary basis, so the enthusiasm ebbs and flow with the tide of technological advances. Seeing well established social media groups like “Official OBA” on Facebook and other privately administrated pages the contact between old boys has never been greater and can be maintained with the click of a button.

Is the IOBA still relevant? Very much so! There are assets under the ownership of the IOBA of a significant value, not limited to the Indefatigable Bell, Trophies and other items (insurance value >£600,000). Without the Association those could be lost
forever.

Then there is the Reunion weekend. A time for you to connect to YOUR history with the only opportunity for the general public to access freely the grounds on the Saturday in which many of us grew up fast with other like minded people to share stories (good and bad) of our time there. There is a chance to have your say at the annual general meeting routinely carry out
on site too giving you the ability to hold the committee to account for motions and decisions made in the name of the membership. With the evening dinner seeing the joy and laughter all around whilst raffle tickets and auctions raise money to ensure the continuation of the association and other good causes.

With this…. our first request… WE NEED A NEWSLETTER EDITIOR!!!!
Newsletter is a challenge to produce. Contributions made to the newsletter editor have been like dragging an original £1.00 note out of a Scotsman sometimes. We do need your announcements, stories and life events to make this as informative as possible. We’ve recycled a few for this edition, but would encourage you to share with us no matter how insignificant you
think. email to <indefatigable.oba@gmail.com>

… thank you for taking the time to read…
